In Division I defending Champions Broken Hearts got off to a sound start with victory over newly promoted Gray Monks. In their first Division I game Pineapple came up against an in-form Allsorts, and were never really in the game after Round 1. Both Kevin Ashman and Gavin Fuller posted 20+ scores. However the Division's best individual score of the night was at the Hand & Shears, where Fred Filby's 23 points inspired Old Itonians to a clear win over promoted Waterloo Sunset. Closest game of the night was at the One Tun, where Atletico took an early lead, only to see Barb overtake them by half time. However Atletico steadily came back in the second half to take the game, Barb narrowly missing out on the season's first bonus point.
Attention in Division II was focused on the new teams, who had varying fortunes on their QLL debuts. Pericardium, who despite being a new team feature some familiar faces, made an impressive start with a good win over Telstars, and must be early favourites for promotion. Pericardium's 51 was the best team score of the night, and David Stainer's 23 points for them matched Fred Filby as best individual score. Mealy Bugs put up a creditable performance in going down to Rosslyn Park, but Ovalytes proved far too strong for Wharfside. I do not yet have full details of the remaining game, but Belly had a comfortable win against Accrington Cylindricals.
