Results 2008-2009 League Week 03

Much more high scoring this week, with several nail biting finishes.

In Division I last year's Champions and Runners-up met in a titanic struggle, which saw Nomads gain some revenge for their defeats last season. The game went down to the last question, and not only saw both teams top 50 points and earn a full house bonus, but also all eight players in double figures. However Broken Hearts two bonus points see them stay in top spot despite their defeat. Atletico earned their first bonus point as they moved into joint second place with a hard fought win over old rivals Allsorts, who find themselves in the unusual spot of second bottom. Barb took an early lead against Gray Monks, and managed to hold on to it for the rest of another tight game. The clearest winners in the Division were Waterloo Sunset, who had all four players in double figures and gained a bonus point as they proved too strong for Pineapple. Top score in the Division was Gavin Fuller's 19 points for Allsorts.

Pericardium made it three wins out of three in Division II as they demolished London Scottish. Their 58 points may have been down on last week's 60, but was still impressive. All four players were in double figures, but strangely they didn't achieve a full house bonus. A tense finish at Rosslyn Park, where a last round rally by Belly saw them snatch victory off the last question. Both teams claimed a full house bonus. There was another nerve-wracking last round at the Calthorpe. After a game in which the lead changed hands several times Accrington Cylindricals, who started with a full house, came from behind to beat Telstars by a point. In the first meeting of two of our new sides, Mealy Bugs took the honours as they defeated Wharfside to record their first QLL victory. Top scores of the night went to Hugh Brady of Mealy Bugs and Nic Paul of Pericardium, both with 23 points.
