Results 2008-2009 League Week 06

The top of the table game in Division I was a very close-fought affair, but Nomads found a late surge to take the game against Atletico. All four Nomads were in double figures, but Atletico had the consolation of a point for a close defeat, and, for the fourth consecutive game, a full house bonus point. A three man Broken Hearts just did enough to see off the challenge from Pineapple to move into second place. Pineapple also made a full house. The highest aggregate score of the night was at the Hand & Shears, where 104 points were scored as Allsorts beat Waterloo Sunset, with both teams achieving a full house. In the One Tun derby Old Itonians eased ahead of Barb to win, although it was Barb who scored a full house bonus. Congratulations to Gavin Fuller of Allsorts, whose 24 points was the top score in the Division, and included the first individual full house of the season.

In Division II it was Mealy Bugs turn to face the Pericardium steamroller, and they were no more successful than the previous four teams to try. Pericardium had two players scoring 20 points, and made a full house. Interestingly Pericardium, like 3 of the other 5 teams who made a full house, went first, and achieved the feat in round 6. The League's other undefeated team, Belly, had a much closer struggle, but, led by Mick Lancaster's best of the night 24 points, they held on to beat London Scottish and stay in second place. Rosslyn Park had a comfortable win over Wharfside, who are still looking for their first point, while in the Royal Oak derby Ovalytes saw off a late challenge from Accrington Cylindricals to claim victory, but Cylindricals finished close enough to gain a bonus point.
